Vienna, 10 April 2024 – Increasingly, a parcel’s journey begins or ends at a Tamburi parcel station. Tamburi has established itself as Austria’s largest and fastest-growing carrier-neutral parcel station network. The start-up addresses parcel delivery challenges for recipients, couriers and municipalities.
Individuals face inconvenient parcel collections, couriers face high costs, and municipalities face growing delivery traffic from almost 400 million parcel deliveries a year. Tamburi parcel stations are located in residential areas close to delivery addresses. Residents receive a digital notification and can collect parcels conveniently, securely and free of charge around the clock. They can also send parcels through their station.
At the time of this release, more than 400 Tamburi stations were already installed in Vienna, over 100 in Klagenfurt, and others in Lower Austria, Upper Austria and Salzburg. Deliveries to Tamburi stations reduce the distance travelled and cost per parcel by 80%, because each courier can deliver more parcels per round.
Smart parcel delivery infrastructure across Austria
“We are delighted with the positive feedback from users and the strong demand for Tamburi parcel stations. Tamburi makes sending and receiving parcels more convenient while reducing emissions and costs. Over the coming weeks and months, we will build a dense network of parcel stations across Austria.”
This is infrastructure for the future of parcel logistics, just as letterboxes serve mail delivery. Tamburi is fundamentally improving the way individuals send and receive parcels.
Easy to use, with many new applications
Tamburi is easy to use for recipients, senders and couriers alike. Digitally delivered codes allow parcels to be collected free of charge around the clock, while parcel codes allow items to be deposited in compartments. More and more carriers offer shipping options through Tamburi. Many online shops already include delivery to a nearby Tamburi as an option at checkout.
For example, registered DPD customers can select their preferred Tamburi as their permanent Pickup station for all future deliveries.
